Welcome to Legacy Farms! We are so excited to be a part of this new, wonderful experience as you seek to add to your family with a puppy.
Josh and I first met back in 2000. After becoming engaged in 2006, we began raising our first puppies. Growing up we both were avid dog lovers. Josh has over 10 years experience working with dogs and I am a registered nurse. We raise puppies because we LOVE doing it! It's so wonderful to be a part of these new, little lives and we do everything we can to give them the best start possible. We are responsible to the puppies throughout their whole lives. We find homes for every puppy ourselves. We never sell to pet stores. They are our responsibility and we find such joy in finding the perfect family for each and every one.
We raise very high quality, healthy puppies. We are very careful to provide you with a very healthy family member and all of our puppies come with a two-year health guarantee. We are firm believers in health testing so please ask which health clearances your puppy's parents have had. We try to have rare colors available along with everyone's favorites and breed to get the beautiful stockier build.
We understand that it can be a very daunting process to purchase a puppy but we want to make it as wonderful and fun as possible. We truly enjoy what we do and WANT TO DO IT RIGHT. Being a stay-at-home mom, my children and I have tons of time to devote to them each day. When our dogs and puppies aren't with us, they each have a spacious room with heated tile floors and room outside to run. We never use wire floors for any of our dogs or puppies. We are small on purpose. Our dogs are our pets and we don't want our attention to be spread too thin to give them each a wonderful life.
We believe that raising a healthy puppy begins well before it enters the world. We provide our momma's with excellent prenatal care. They are all given high quality food and supplements during the entire pregnancy until after the puppies have been weaned. We also work closely with our vet to ensure they receive excellent care. We don't cut any corners when it comes to our puppies' health. During and after the weaning process, the puppies go straight to Royal Canin puppy food. We have spent many years researching dog food and it is hands down the best we've ever found.
All of our puppies are raised in a clean, loving environment and spend lots of time interacting with us and our children. Our cat, Charlie, does his part, too. You may see him in one of your puppy's pictures now and then! We start working with the puppies from the day they're born and start teaching them good house manners around their seven week birthday.
We believe that a puppy's best time for bonding with their new family is between 8 and 12 weeks of age. For that reason we allow our puppies to go home at 8 weeks old. We strongly encourage you to attend puppy training classes with your new little one and later on we recommend that you attend at least one more advanced class. We do our best to give you a socialized, well-rounded puppy but that training must continue long after they go home. We are happy to provide you with information on helping your puppy become an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy. Training goes far beyond "fetch" and "roll-over" but teaches you to communicate with each other. That is the only way to truly enjoy a wonderful, well-mannered family member.
We know that choosing a puppy is a huge decision and that puppy will be with you for many years. We truly want you to get to know the puppy as best you can through many, many questions, pictures, or maybe even a short video. Thank you for choosing us. We think you'll be very happy and we are very excited to share this special time with you!
